 About myself:

ANASTASIIA MYRONENKO
Toronto | Ontario
Occupation: Administrative Assistant at Ukrainian bank
Home city: Dnipropetrovsk
Favourite author: Taras Shevchenko
Interesting facts: Anastasiia moved to Canada alone when she was 17. Representing Humber College, she took 1st place in the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition in 2013.
Born in Dnipropetrovsk, the third largest city in Ukraine, Anastasiia has always been interested in marketing and communications. She describes herself as career-oriented and hard-working as most Ukrainian women. She graduated with Business Marketing diploma from Humber College before beginning her career at one of the Ukrainian banks in Toronto.
Being deeply touched by the situation in Ukraine, Anastasiia used her social media skills to create a Facebook page to help coordinate volunteer work in Dnipropetrovsk. While living in Canada, Anastasiia continues to feel a strong connection to her home country which inspires her to write poetry in Ukrainian and English. Anastasiia is also extremely passionate about modern art. In her spare time, you can found her in the Art Gallery of Ontario or volunteering at Toronto International Film Festival.

I love great books, fine arts, good music and interesting people.

When I was working on my social project idea video, one of the main challenges was to find Petrykivka artist in Toronto, who would help me to hold fundraising masterclass for Petrykyvka arts. I thought it would be impossible. However, the fate is an interesting thing: while discussing my project idea with video operator Dmytro Doblevych I told him about the challenges I faced. Dmytro told me about Pikush family who are national Ukrainian Petrykivka artists and who contributed to Petrykivka art to be recognized by UNESCO. Moreover, he informed me that Oksanna Pikush lives in Toronto and he can get us in touch. What a gift of fate! Oksanna Pikusha knows all the problems of Petryvika as no one else, as she is always in touch with her parents, who live and paint beautiful masterpieces in Petrykivka. Oksanna`s mom is director at Petrykivka Children Arts School. My original idea was to use $1,000 for creating an online museum for Petrykivka, as it was brought to the new level after UNESCO recognition, but yet did not get enough funding for making it more accessible for people worldwide. However, after conversation with Oksana Pikush I discovered that the situation in Petrykivka needs more help than website in English. The historical school is under threat of closure because of lack of heating and funding from the government. My video is revealing the problems Pertykivka faced as well as tells you a little bit more about this art style. I also would like to thank Dmytro Doblevych ,Oksanna Pikush and her family for their help, support and time. I am glad I met you and I believe this video will help to bring attention to the school and will not only prevent it from closure, but also work on bringing international interest to this beautiful art style! Enjoy the video ☺️
